Interdisciplinary practice
Alvaro Arrosamena's concept of art embraces a breathtaking range of disciplines, constantly interacting with one another. Paintings, installations, performances, film and multimedia are the tools he uses to express his own vision of the world, where different aspects of popular cultures, traditions and transgressions are common. He integrates spiritual and socio-political subjects to analyze the problems of identity, social integration, acceptance and assimilation in today's multi-racial western society. Influences and taboos related to mass culture, the subversive, the minorities, subcultures, forbidden spirituality and the occult.

I believe that creativity is essentially interdisciplinary – the unpredicted connections, leaps, oppositions of creative responses do not respect the borderlines of disciplines. This is how new thought emerges. Art processes are useful training for creativity, bringing more experiences and possibilities to explore but do not have an exclusive hold on creativity.
Interdisciplinary practice is fundamentally about moving out of spaces of operation, materialization of the idea and the development of the creative process involving the combination and interaction of different disciplines. The work exits outside material reality but is not purely conceptual, many more factors than the concept are of critical importance in this is interdisciplinary space.
